Pinup FAQ / Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
There are a few of the most common questions that almost everyone asks. Below we try to cover the most common questions and concerns. If your’s is not there, please contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.
How Much Does it Cost?
Our sessions fees start around $200. We offer prints, wall art, albums and folios separately. Our prints start at $65.
What Payment do you take?
We accept cash and most major credit cards. We do not accept checks or money orders at this time.
Do you need anything to reserve my session?
To reserve your session we require a non-refundable retainer (50% of the session fee) which is applied towards the cost of your session.
You may pay the retainer online at our secure booking page. The balance is due at the beginning of your session.
You can also pre-pay for your full session there if you wish.
What is your cancelation policy?
We understand. Sometimes you have to reschedule or even cancel. We try to keep things simple and clear.
In the event you need to reschedule you must do so no later than 14 days before your session. Failure to do so or failure to show at your scheduled session will forfeit your fee. As long as you reschedule with at least 14 days notice, any fees paid will be applied to your new session date. You are only able to reschedule once within any 6 month period. Because we are reserving a specific date and time exclusively for you and will be unavailable for other sessions, all session fee retainers and deposits are non-refundable.
How Long is a Session?
It depends. We offer quick 30 minute mini sessions up to all day marathons. A normal full session with a couple outfit changes, hair and make up and some changes to your look can run 4 to 5 hours.
Is Hair & Make up included?
It depends on the session type. We work with several different hair and make up artists, and their rates vary. We do our best to suggest the ones who will help you achieve the look you want. Rates usually run from $75 to $200, and is paid directly to them.
Where do the sessions take place?
We shoot both in our studio in South Buffalo as well as occasionally on location.
How do I book a session?
You may book online through our secure booking page. If you arent sure which session is right for you, simply click the Contact link on the menu and use the form to reach us. You may also call us or email us and we be happy to discuss what your goals are and hat dates are available.
Can we meet before the session?
Certainly. In fact, we prefer to meet in person before your session so we can go over all the details ahead of time. We have found this also helps “break the ice” and make the photo session more relaxed.
Who will be present during my session?
Well, it depends on the session. Our sessions aren’t ‘spectator events’. You and the photographer will of course be there. For longer sessions the hair & make up artists may also be on hand, possibly 1 female photo assistant. You’re welcome to bring a friend a moral support, though we recommend not bringing your significant other as they can be more distraction than help.
I don’t know how to pose. What do I do?
You relax, and let us guide you. The job of the photographer is to pose and coach you. We want you to feel relaxed and enjoy your session, so leave the direction to us.
I’ve got stretch marks, scars, cellulite, acne, a bad tattoo, bruises, or something else I’m self conscious about. What do I do?
Again, you relax. We retouch your images so that you look your best, and have a number of different techniques to help you achieve that.
Do you photograph men or couples?
Yes. We will happily work with individuals and couples..
When do I see my pictures?
In most cases you will see them the same day. After your photo session is done, we take about an hour break so you can grab a bite to eat and we can take care of reviewing and editing. Your photos will be ready to review then you return.
Do you ever offer Groupons?
No. Groupon’s and similar discount sales are best suited to high volume, low variety services. Each of our sessions are customized to each of our clients individual needs. “Deal Sites” just don’t work with our full service, low volume approach.
Will I end up on your web site? How private is this really?
We understand that our clients privacy is very important. We have worked with school teachers, law enforcement officers, public figures and professionals. We do not share, show or display any of our clients images without their express written permission. All images that you see on this website are used with the subjects permission, with signed model releases.
How Long Before I Receive My Prints/Folios/Albums/Wall Art?
You will receive your finished art work in 3 to 4 weeks after the date of your session. Rush Service is available for an additional fee and can be delivered within 5 to 10 business days.
What about Digital Images?
You receive a complimentary web-sized digital image of each image you purchase for your personal use. “Web Sized” images are optimized for use on social media sites such as Facebook. We do sell high-resolution images at an additional fee.
Do you provide wardrobe or should I bring my own?
We do have a selection of costumes and clothing on hand, but we suggest bringing your own. We go over wardrobe during your pre-session consultation.
